Ex-president Sarkozy's son suffers crushing defeat in municipal election on the French Riviera
In the coastal town of Menton, Louis Sarkozy's far-right rival, Alexandra Masson, is in the lead after the first round, with 36.25% of the vote. Sarkozy will need to find common ground with the two other right-wing candidates who qualified for the second round if they want to prevent Menton from drifting to the far right.
