Seeing Les Arcs: An Architecture Tour on Skis

“You see this building now, but when we get to the top, it will disappear,” my guide, Jean-Marie, tells me as we take the La Cachette chairlift in Les Arcs 1600. He uses his pole to point to a large, slanted building directly next to us, the infamous Résidence La Cascade. I immediately realise that his pole will act as the professor’s chalk on this tour, and I will be the eager student.
